LYNNWOOD, WA & CORK, IRELAND Sound & Sea Technology, Inc (SST), a leading ocean engineering corporation, today announced its expansion into Europe establishing two new businesses announced at a press conference convened by the Irish Prime Minister, An Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD and attended by the Deputy Prime Minster, Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore TD; and Minister for Jobs & Innovation, Richard Bruton TD.

SST is a world leading ocean engineering firm providing a range of ocean and marine engineering services for the analysis, engineering development, fabrication and installation of undersea systems. SST provides site investigation services from biological assessments to environmental impact studies; it designs and installs ocean systems on the surface, mid-water or below the seafloor. Applications include port and coastal security, fiber-optic and power cable systems, pipelines and terminals, offshore solar, wave and tidal projects.

In setting up the new European base, Sound & Sea Europe Ltd (SSE) and Marine Micropile TechnologyTM Ltd. (MMT) are located in Cork, Ireland. Locating in Ireland at the IMERC campus puts the businesses at the heart of an ocean engineering centre of excellence and was an obvious choice.

Sound & Sea Europe will provide engineering services in three key areas – 1) Ocean Engineering, 2) Ocean Renewables, and 3) Critical Infrastructure Protection.

Marine Micropile Technology Ltd. will hold all responsibility for global R&D and business development of its patented micropile anchoring systems. Marine Micropile Technology is an innovative new approach for marine anchors. Marine Micropile anchors offer high holding capacity in nearly all seafloor conditions, are very scalable, and can significantly reduce the cost of anchoring in a variety of applications. Marine Micropile Technology development is led by experts in anchor and mooring system technology, subsea robotics, seafloor geotechnical engineering and the design and installation of complex ocean systems for long-life, unattended operation.

Welcoming the decision to locate in Ireland, An Taoiseach Enda Kenny said, “ I am delighted to welcome these new jobs in Cork. I am particularly pleased that they have come through the ‘Succeed in Ireland’ initiative in the Action Plan for Jobs. The creation of jobs is the Government’s top priority and we will be absolutely relentless in seeking and supporting any initiatives that can make that happen.”
